Music Clubs

School Choir

The main school choir is open to children of all abilities from Key Stage 2. They perform a wide range of popular songs and appear at the school concerts and talent shows. This year they will be perfomring at Sheffield Arena, and Leeds Town Hall as well as touring the DePuys offices for carol singing. The main school choir is ably led by Mrs Smith and Miss Watling, and is proving more popular every year.

Mini Choir

The school mini choir is a choir exclusively for KS1 pupils. In this regard it is fairly unusual, but we believe that encouraging singing from an early age is a great way to promote key performance skills which the children build on as they move up school. The mini choir perform at all the schools concerts, and meet every week on a Mionday lunchtime. Everyone is welcome, no matter how big or small their voice! we learn a wide range of songs with lots of different actions and themes, and most of all we have fun singing together. Mini choir is led by Miss O'Malley and Mrs Barass.

Recorder Groups

There are two separate recorder groups in action. Year 5-6 run by Mrs Smith and Year 3-4 run by Mrs Wright and Mrs Mitchell. The children learn basic sightreading skills, and then progress to playing simple melodies. The 5-6 recorder group has performed at the Leeds Schools Music Association Christmas concerts, and is a regular at the Hugh Gaitskell concerts.

Drama and Musicals club

The hugely popular drama club run by Mrs Wright, has this year widened its focus to take on musical theatre. Miss O'Malley will assist in bringing the fundamentals of musical performance to bear on the skills that the children already have. We will be concentrating on tuning, vocal health and strength, and most importantly expression and bringing the lyrics to life. This will feed into our end of year perfomance which will be an all-singing all dancing extravaganza. More details to follow, but hold onto your hats! Drama/Musicals club meets on Mondays after school from 3.20-4.00.
